It's a (not so good day) for a hike!

After our stop in Granville, we made our way towards Cookville to Burgess Falls State Park.  As we entered the park, I noticed they had a butterfly garden, so I hoped that I could get some good photos.  Needless to say, when we first pulled up, the butterfly garden wasn't very impressive, but I decided to walk around anyway.  Though the garden didn't have much beauty on its own, I certainly made some new friends along the way.















After my exploration in the butterfly garden (and getting eaten alive by mosquitos), I decided that I wanted to walk to the falls. 

It was 3/4 of mile one way, so I figured that was nothing!  I drug my parents with me, because I didn't think it would be safe to go alone.  Well, just a tidbit of advice... A hike in flip flops on a 90 degree day with what felt like 500% humidity isn't a very good idea!  We didn't make it to the "big falls", but I did manage to capture some of the scenary along the way.  Guess I'll be going back to Burgess Falls also!

Granville

Something that is kind of a tradition is for my parents and I to take little day road trips.  Usually its on a Sunday afternoon when there is nothing else to do and we just get in the car and go.  Yesterday we headed towards Burgess Falls in Cookeville, TN. 

We took a small detour and rode out to Granville, TN.  A few weeks ago, I caught an episode of Tennessee Crossroads and they featured Sutton's General Store and I just had to go check it out!  Unfortunately it was Sunday and everything was closed, but I hear there is a festival called Granville Days in the fall!

Tates Lane....

I took some shots of Tates Lane in Mount Juliet.  For those of you that are from there, you know how narrow and curvy this little cut through is. 

I can't even begin to tell you how ridiculous I'm sure that I appeared to the cows in the fields that lined the roadway.  I'd park, jump out of my car (hoping and praying that no other cars would come around the corners) and snap a few shots. 

To my surprise, even though I was a bit spastic while shooting, these turned out pretty good!

Cumberland Mountain State Park

So we took out on an adventure to Cumberland Mountain State Park... I thought this was going to be some grand park with lots of photo ops.  Needless to say, we drove an hour and half to get there and stayed about 30 minutes and came home!  We should have went to Fall Creek Falls!


There is just something tranquil and relaxing about the sound of a waterfall, no matter how big or how small.

Birds of a feather, flock together...

These are some photos that I took at my paren'ts house.  They have this one little bird and she is BUSY! 

The first two photos are from about 2 months ago.  She had a nest built in one of my Mom's grassy things.  Only about 3 of the eggs from this brood made it, so before I could get pictures of the babies, they had already "flown the coop"...

This next one was taken yesterday (June 6, 2010), she now has a nest in a fern on the porch.  She has gotten so used to me checking out the eggs that she isn't even scared of me anymore. 


These babies were very eager to have their picture taken!!!
